Last semester, my colloquium text was the fifth chapter of my
\nforthcoming book, Peirce on the Uses of History (De Gruyter 2020).
\nNow I would like to discuss the seventh and last chapter. This is the only
\nchapter that is still in a \u201cfirst draft\u201d form and therefore needs a rather
\nsubstantial revision. This applies to both style and content, for both are
\nstill a bit shaky (which I hope makes for a good colloquium text!). The
\nmain idea is simple enough. While the book\u2019s previous chapters deal
\nwith Peirce\u2019s conception of the relation between philosophy and history,
\nalso taking into account his work as a historian of science and culture,
\nthis chapter closes the book by looking at methodological issues about
\nhistoriography and about epistemological problems about the very status
