This is the only<br>\nchapter that is still in a \u201cfirst draft\u201d form and therefore needs a rather<br>\nsubstantial revision. This applies to both style and content, for both are<br>\nstill a bit shaky (which I hope makes for a good colloquium text!). The<br>\nmain idea is simple enough. While the book\u2019s previous chapters deal<br>\nwith Peirce\u2019s conception of the relation between philosophy and history,<br>\nalso taking into account his work as a historian of science and culture,<br>\nthis chapter closes the book by looking at methodological issues about<br>\nhistoriography and about epistemological problems about the very status<br>\nof historical inquiry.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last semester, my colloquium text was the fifth chapter of my forthcoming book, Peirce on the Uses of History (De Gruyter 2020).
