The paper aims to critically resort to the materialist-geographical \nconcept of the \u2018spatial fix\u2019 for deepening understanding of the \nfunctioning of ancient Mediterranean polytheism as urban religion. In \nits second and main part, it focuses on a few selected samples of the \nearly Christian critique of the polytheist production of a religious \nbuilt environment in order to better foreground the spatialized \ncharacter of these polemical arguments.
